# Ecommerce in 3 months

**A retailer's first online store, live in three months.**

Specialized Bicycle Components · BikeStation · Costa Rica

BikeStation, Costa Rica's largest bicycle retailer by store count, had no online store. I led the design and the ERP integration of its first online store, on Shopify, and the team took it from nothing to live in three months.

- **Problem:** The country's largest bicycle retailer by store count had no online store.
- **My role:** Associate Product Manager. Led the design and the ERP integration so the team could build the store.
- **What I did:** Led the storefront design and the integration with the ERP, from scratch to launch.
- **Outcome:** A Shopify store live in three months, built from scratch with the ERP integration.

## Results

- **3 months** from no online store to a live Shopify store. Built from scratch, ERP integration included

## Starting from zero

BikeStation is a business unit of Specialized Costa Rica, where I worked as Associate Product Manager. It had the most stores of any bicycle retailer in the country and no online store at all. We built one from scratch on Shopify, in Spanish for Costa Rican shoppers, and it was live in three months. That meant the whole chain at once: a storefront, a catalog shoppers could browse, checkout, and inventory coming from the business's ERP.

## The two things I led

**The design.** The storefront and how a shopper moves through it, from the home page to the catalog and on to checkout.

**The ERP integration.** The store's inventory came through the ERP, so the integration was part of the launch rather than a later phase.

The team built the store. My job was to define what it had to do and to lead the design and the integration through to launch.

## What came next

When I became Head of Product & Growth, BikeStation's catalog of 10,000+ SKUs went through the data overhaul that took reporting from two to three months behind to near real time. That story is in [Real-time retail data](https://maujimenez.io/work/real-time-retail-data).
